The manjarblanco (or manjar blanco -separated-, literally “white delicacy”) is a sweet, white spread or pastry filling made with milk. It’s used to prepare a lot of desserts (the churros, for example), but if you like, you can eat it on its own. There are two ways to prepare the manjarblanco, choice the one that you like more.

Manjarblanco Nº1

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (400 g, 14 oz) of sweet condensed milk

Preparation:

Put the can (closed, without open it) in a pot and pour water until the can gets covered. If you have a regular pot, boil for 2 hours; if you have a pressure cooker, for 45 minutes. Cool down the can before open it. Serve in a little dish or use it to prepare another dessert.

Manjarblanco Nº 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 1/2 cups of white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Preparation:

Mix the milk with the sugar. Boil, stiring constantly until it gets thick or you can see the pot bottom. Take out from the flame, add the vanilla and cool down. Ready!
