Café dulce trujillano (Trujillo’s sweet coffee)

This is a special way to prepare the coffee, typical of the north of Peru, specially from a city named Trujillo. You’ll need milk, black coffee (concentrated), sugar, vanilla, ground cinnamon and white rum. It’s a perfect drink for a cold night and a great option if you don’t want to be traditional. Surprise your family and friends with this recipe for 5 people.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lt (4 cups) of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of black coffee
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of vanilla
  • Ground cinnamon, to one’s taste
  • 3/4 cup of white rum

Preparation:

Boil the milk and the sugar. While it’s still boiling, add the coffee, the vanilla and the cinnamon. Stir well, remove from the flame and, immediately, pour the rum.

Serve hot in cups.
