The sweet potato is, in an unmerited way, not so popular as the potato – well, it’s easier to combine the potato with a bigger number of dishes, but if we want to prepare a dessert, we’ll have here a great allied. This dish is very easy to prepare and its ingredients are well known. Surprise your family with this recipe for 6 people.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg (1 lb) of sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 kg (1 lb) of sugar
  • 1/4 kg (8 oz) of almonds
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Little candies, to decorate

Preparation:

Cook the sweet potatoes (with peel) for 40 minutes on a medium flame. When they’re ready, remove the pot from the flame, peel and press them using a strainer.

Put it in a pot and pour the milk. Mix it well. Cook on a low flame and add the sugar. Let it cook until the preparation gets a colour similar to manjarblanco (it will be 40 minutes, more or less).

When it’s ready, remove from the flame and add the peeled almonds (ground, if you want), beating some minutes until the sweet potato and the almonds get well mixed.

Decorate with little candies.
