How to make Causa with instant mashed potatoes

There’s a traditional way to prepare causa, and we have already seen it. But we also need time for our work schedules, meetings, family and friends. If we can’t find a moment to prepare it in the old way, we can do it in a modern way: using instant mashed potatoes. Follow this recipe and you’ll get Tuna Causa for 4 people.

Preparation:

  • 125 g (4.5 oz) of instant mashed potatoes.
  • 1 cup of just boiled water
  • 2 tablespoons of ground yellow chili/pepper
  • 5 tablespoons of lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 can of tuna fillet
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, cut in slices
  • 1 avocado in slices
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation:

Mix the instant mashed potatoes with the cup of just boiled water. Add the yellow chili/pepper, oil and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper. Knead until get an even dough.

Ok, we already have the causa, strictly speaking (you can prepare the Lima-style causa at this point). Let’s prepare the stuffing.

Mix the tuna with the mayonnaise. Divide the dough up into equal portions; spread one part in a dish and cover with the tuna. Add the egg and avocado, season and cover with the rest of the causa.

Spread mayonnaise. You can decorate it with a sprig of parsley.

Oh my gosh, my aunt (from Lima) used to make this for us when my children were little. It was one of my favorite dishes, and she never taught me to make it or even really told me what it was called.

I cannot wait to make this! Thank you!
