This drink is totally different to the anisette, but it’s very good too. Usually it’s served after the meals (specially if it was a heavy one) because the aniseeds have digestive properties. Like all good things, it takes a little time: the aniseed liquor will need 15 days to be ready. This recipe is for 8 people.
Ingredients:
- 150 g (5 oz) of aniseeds
- 30 g (1 oz) of cilantro seeds
- 1 g (0.03 oz) of grated nutmeg
- 2 lt (8 cups) of pisco
- 1/2 kg (18 oz) of sugar
- 3/4 cup of water
Preparation:
Grind the aniseeds with the cilantro seeds and the nutmeg and add them to a bottle with the pisco.
Dissolve the sugar in the water and pour to the pisco.
Let it go down for 15 days. Then filter the liquor to extract the powdered seeds. Serve after the meals.
BONUS: Our grannies tell us that, a lot of years ago, the drugstores prepared a coca-based liquor, very popular among scientists, politicians and priests. It ingredients were 2 oz of coca leaves, a piece (5 cm) of cinchona bark, 1/2 oz of cinnamon, 6 g (0.2 oz) of cardamom seeds, 3 g of gentian root, 3 g of cloves and the peel of one orange. They let all go down for 8 days in 2 cups of alcohol. Then they pour 8 cups of pisco and a syrup prepared with 1/2 kg of sugar and 1 lt of water. After filter it, it was ready.
