Vino macerado (Fruits soaked in wine)
Nov 4th, 2008 by Diego

This is an old recipe from our grannies, made to fight against cold in winter. The original recipe calls to prepare it with sugar lumps. The granny recommends to prepare the vino macerado halfway to the autumn, previous to the winter’s arrival. This recipe is for 4 people.
Ingredients:
- 2 bottles of sweet white wine
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 big stick cinnamon
- 20 cloves
- 1/2 nutmeg
- 1 medium piece of peeled ginger
- 1 green apple in slices
- 1 little orange cut in four pieces (with peel)
- 12 almonds
Preparation:
Take a big bottle and mix all ingredients. Let it go down at least two weeks and no more than a month. When it’s ready, strain to get the liquor clear and bottle again. It’s served warm.
