Manjar de chirimoya (Cherimoya delicacy)

The cherimoya is a fruit native to the Andes and it’s used a long time ago in the ancient peruvian dishes – the Mochica culture alredy ate it from 100 A.D.!- it’s a sweet and soft fruit; Mark Twain called it “the most delicious fruit known to men”. Using it we’ll prepare a fabolous dessert for 4 people.

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 cups of evaporated milk
  • 1 2/3 cups of condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 5 egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups of cream
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
  • 2 cherimoyas in pieces, without seeds
  • 1 tablespoons of powdered cinnamon

Preparation:

Mix the evaporated milk, the evaporated one and the vanilla. Cook on a low flame for 45 minutes until it gets thick. Remove from the heat and let it cool down for some minutes. Add the yolks stiring and keep back.

Beat the cream until it gets firm. Add the sugar gradually and continue beating to form peaks.

Mix well all. Add the cherimoya and stir. Decorate with cinnamon and serve immediately.
